Fes to Merzouga desert trip Highlights

Itinerary of 3 Days desert tour from Fes to Merzouga

We will pick you up at the hotel at 8 a.m. and take you on a 350-kilometer trip via the Middle Atlas mountain range, which runs from south-west to north-west, to Merzouga. Along the route, we’ll pass by towns like Azrou, one of Morocco’s most well-known Berber cities, and Ifrane, which is referred to as the “Moroccan Switzerland” due to the style of its homes. We will traverse the valley and gorges of Ziz, as well as places like as Erfoud and Midelt. We’ll travel to Merzouga over a desert track from Erfoud. We’ll stay in a hotel close to the entrance to the desert for the night.

We will spend the second day exploring the most breathtaking area of the Eastern Sahara. We will drive a 4X4 into the desert, pass through Erg Chebbi’s dunes, observe oasis, and stop at nomadic settlements. Following the road, we will travel to the well-known Khamlia village, home of the Gnawa. We shall enjoy the amazing folk music played by the descendants of the slaves who came from Africa. We will head back to the hotel at twilight to board the camels that will transport us to the Berber tent amidst the sand dunes, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

The final day starts with a picture that will stay with you forever: the desert sunrise. We will return to the hotel with the camels after morning, when we will have breakfast and take a shower. We will pass through Tafilalt, Rissani (the Alauí dynasty’s birthplace and the former capital of the Alaoui sultans), Azrou, and Ifrane en route back to Fez. We’ll make a stop to the Monkey Forest in Azrou National Park, where you can see the monkeys and even feed them. When we get to Fes, we’ll drop you off at your hotel and wrap off our services.
