Casablanca to Merzouga desert trip Highlights

Itinerary of 10 Days desert tour from Casablanca

We will greet you at the airport in Casablanca, and then we will begin our adventure around Morocco on a 10 days tour from Casablanca. The first stop will be at Casablanca, and then you will go to Rabat, which is the capital of Morocco. You will go to the Hassan II Mosque, which is the biggest mosque in the nation, while you are in Casablanca. After that, we are going to go towards Rabat. Before you check into your riad in the Medina, you will have the opportunity to see the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah. In conclusion, stay overnight at the hotel or riad with dinner included.

Today, we’re going to Chefchaouen. During this 10-day tour to Morocco, we will make a few quick stops en route to the Blue City. When you get to Chefchaouen, check into your riad. Make the most of your free time by touring the area and going to Chefchaouen, the most well-known tourist attraction in Morocco. The most noticeable feature that sets Chefchaouen apart are the shades of blue that decorate the walls of the Medina. Once you’re in the Chefchaouen Medina, begin your journey to the “Ras El Maa Waterfall,” a well-known cascade perched atop a mountain that offers views of the majority of the city and its rugged terrain. The following landmarks and noteworthy spots will pass by as you go to the summit: Place “Outa El Hamam,” a serene area surrounded by cafés and restaurants. The “Kasbah”, from the 18th century, a totally restored walled castle with a beautiful garden, is located in the heart of Chefchaouen. Your visit would not be complete without seeing the “Grand Spanish Mosque” from the 15th century. Later, dine at the riad and enjoy an evening of relaxation.

You will travel to Fes via Ouazzan and the Roman ruins at Volubilis after eating breakfast at your riad. You will stop for lunch along the way. After a few more hours of journey, you will reach Volubilis, an ancient Roman city that was founded in 225 BC and is home to some of the most stunning mosaics in all of Morocco. Volubilis has been preserved astonishingly well for its age. While seeing the historical monument, you will receive a comprehensive education about the Roman Empire. The Ismaili capital of Morocco, Meknes, will be your next stop. Here, you’ll get the chance to take a guided city tour with a native.

Meknes has a number of interesting sights to see, including the granary, the Bab Mansour Gate (built by Sultan My Ismail), the Sahrij Souani (used for agricultural and irrigation), and the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum. From there, we continue till we arrive in Fes, which is regarded as the country’s cultural capital. Staying the night at a gorgeous riad in the heart of the medina is like living out of a dream.

After breakfast, your tour of Morocco’s most important historical and cultural city will commence. The architectural medina of Fes, the “spiritual capital of Morocco,” will be investigated. The Jewish Quarter (Mellah) and the Dar El Makhzen, or Royal Palace, with its magnificent mosaic architecture and golden doors, are two stops on our guided tour of Fez. The largest leather workshop in the city, the renowned Chaouwara Tanneries, were established in the eleventh century. One of the oldest universities in the world and the ancient center of Islamic learning, the Kairaouine Mosque, are off-limits to non-Muslims, yet visitors are still able to see the mosque’s courtyard from the gates. Some of the most striking specimens of Islamic architecture may be found at the Al-Attarine Madrassa and the Najjarine Marble Fountain, which are both religious institutions.

One of Fes’s most beautifully designed houses of worship is the Bou Inania Medersa. There’s going to be ample time for lunch at a Moroccan restaurant nearby. You may identify the holy hue of Islam in the mosaics of the Bab Boujloud archway, which shift from blue on the exterior wall to green on the inside wall. Wander around the markets and streets of the medina. Afterwards, we’ll take you to a high vantage point with an amazing view of Fes El-Enormous Bali’s medina. For dinner and accommodation, they stayed in the same riad in the medina.

We depart Fes after breakfast and go across the Middle Atlas Mountains. We’re going to stop at Ifrane. Barbarian monkeys can be seen in the Cedar Forest close to Azrou. After that, we’ll carry on to Midelt for lunch. We will travel across the Tizi N’talghouma pass in the afternoon, passing through small Berber communities and the scenic Ziz Valley, which is close to Errachidia, on our way to the Sahara desert. Next, we’ll travel to Merzouga via Aoufous and Erfoud. We will arrive in Erg-Chebbi, a sand dunes paradise, in two hours. There, we will eat dinner and stay the night in a small hotel, or riad.

We will carry on with our tour of the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes after breakfast. Merzouga Lake (which isn’t always filled with water) to see the flamingos and ducks who come here in the spring to live. We will travel to the village of Khmliya, where musicians will play Gnawa. After that, we’ll keep going off-road over the desert until we get to the dark desert that lies behind the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. After that, we’ll go witness the way of life of a Berber family who lives on the road. After that, we’ll head to a deserted town where we might find mineral fossils. We’re going to go back to Khmliya and eat at a neighborhood eatery.

You will go over the stunning orange sand dunes on a camel back to the desert camp in the afternoon. You can see a beautiful sunset and feel revitalized from the middle of the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight stay are available at the camp, where there will be music and endless stargazing opportunities for playing on the sand dunes.

After spending the night in the desert and enjoying a filling breakfast that your camel guide has prepared, you might witness the most magnificent dawn of your life. After that, as the day wears on, you will silently ride a camel back to your starting place and enjoy the ever-changing beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes. The tallest and narrowest canyons in Morocco, the Tinghir and Todra gorges, await you when you meet your driver. You will be able to hike along the valley from here. After that, we’ll go via the Dades Valley, where you can see the amazing “monkey toes” rock formations and wonderful sand castles. We’ll spend the final night in a hotel or riad in the heart of the gorges

After breakfast, we will cross the Dades Valley to reach Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate, which are our next stops. You will have numerous chances to take some of the best pictures of your trip along the Way of a Thousand Kasbahs, which winds through Dades Valley. Additionally, we will make a visit at Kalaat Mgouna, which is commonly referred to as the “city of roses,” in order to get rosewater, which will keep your linens smelling wonderful long after the vacation is over. Next, continue to Ouarzazate, sometimes referred to as “Hollywood of Africa.”

Next, lunch on this 7-day tour departing from Casablanca will be to the well-known Ait Ben Haddou kasbah. Situated in the province of Ouarzazat in the Draa-Tafilalet area of southern Morocco, this is the most famous “fortified town” or ksar/kasbah in Morocco. To put it mildly, this walled adobe village, or ksar, is fascinating. There have been several iconic movies and historic Moroccan buildings filmed there. We’ll continue traveling through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains’ Tizi n’ Tichka Pass (2260 m). Before we leave you off at your Marrakech hotel, where the tour concludes, you may discover how argan oil is manufactured at the women’s cooperatives.

We will spend the full 8 day of our 9-day vacation from Casablanca exploring Marrakech. A tour guide who is a local of Marrakech can help you make the most of your stay in the city. Since we are in a well-known tourist area, the sights and locations of today will be very different from those of yesterday. Prepare yourself for a bustling and beautiful metropolis that lies ahead. Bahia Palace, built by Marrakech’s Bahmad Grand Visir, is a must-see on any city tour of the city because of its exquisite mosaics and stucco.

Built in the 17th century, the Saadian Tomb is a royal necropolis known for its superb architecture. You will be astounded by the diversity of sights, sounds, tastes, and textures that can be discovered at Marrakech’s souks, and you will have an amazing time exploring them. A one-hectare botanical garden and artist’s landscape garden, the Jacques Majorelle Garden is located in Marrakech. The final stop on the journey is Jamaa Elfana Square. One of the busiest areas in all of Marrakech, with food vendors, musicians, monkeys, and snake charmers. Finally, unwind at your Marrakech hotel or riad for the evening.

Your flying schedule dictates what you can do today. If you have the chance, you might explore Marrakech’s less-visited areas in the afternoon and eat lunch at a neighborhood eatery. When you’re ready, your eight-day trip of Morocco will come to an end and you’ll be driven to the airport in either Casablanca or Marrakech.
